Hire Heroes USA Announces James Gillen as Chief Development Officer
Atlanta, GA – Hire Heroes USA, a leading nonprofit dedicated to providing career services to U.S. military members, veterans, and military spouses, is excited to welcome James Gillen, CFRE, as its new Chief Development Officer. James brings decades of expertise in fundraising, marketing, and strategic leadership, with a deep commitment to supporting veterans.

A U.S. Army veteran, James most recently served as the Chief Development & Marketing Officer at The Mission Continues, where he spearheaded revenue development, brand strategy, corporate partnerships, and national campaigns to support veteran-focused initiatives. His career also includes serving as Chief Marketing & Communications Officer at United Way Suncoast, where he increased the organization’s visibility, and founding Slate Media, a national media and public relations firm. James’s diverse experience working with Fortune 500 companies and nonprofits will be instrumental in expanding Hire Heroes USA’s impact.

James holds an MBA from the University of South Florida and a certificate in Nonprofit Leadership from Harvard University. He is also a Certified Fundraising Executive (CFRE) and serves on the boards of PLATO (Philosophy Learning and Teaching Organization) and 360Eats, a nonprofit addressing food insecurity and sustainability.
James’s leadership will focus on cultivating and deepening relationships with corporate partners, foundations, and individual donors to sustain Hire Heroes USA’s long-term growth. He is excited to engage with the veteran community and collaborate with supporters to ensure veterans and military spouses have the resources they need to succeed in their civilian careers.
