1 September 2017
It is with a mix of emotions I share that I will be stepping down as President and CEO of Hire Heroes USA. This move will be effective September 15, 2017. The decision for my transition from Hire Heroes USA was not made lightly. I have accepted a new leadership opportunity that will allow me to focus more time on my family, especially my three young daughters. That said, I’m not completely leaving the Hire Heroes USA family – I will remain on the Board of Directors to continue my support of an essential and effective mission in which I still strongly believe.
It has been my great honor to lead this amazing organization for nearly nine years, a period marked by incredible growth for our nonprofit. When I was first tapped to serve as Hire Heroes USA CEO in January 2009, we confirmed between 2 and 3 clients hired each month. Today, by comparison, we confirm more than 165 veterans and military spouses hired each week – across the country and around the world, and we’ve reduced our cost per hire by 95 percent to $927. By any measure, this alone is a remarkable achievement. But there’s much more. Through increased innovation and effectiveness, Hire Heroes USA continues to set the standard for veteran employment services and I have no doubt that this organization will continue to do so well into the future.
None of this would have been possible without the hard work, determination, remarkable support and continued focus of every single one of you. Together, we have built a program that is a leader in the veteran employment space and is held in high esteem for its transparency, accountability and its results. We have been able to have an ever-increasing impact on the lives of the men and women who have served this great country.
Hire Heroes USA’s Board of Directors has begun an executive search to find my replacement. In the meantime, Chief Operating Officer Christopher Plamp will serve as interim CEO until that successor is named and in place. I am confident Christopher and the incredible team we have here will continue the great work they’ve been doing – empowering transitioning military members, veterans and military spouses with the tools and resources they need to find success, for themselves and their families, in the civilian workforce.
Transition and change are a part of life. While leaving Hire Heroes USA is bittersweet, I’m excited to embark on a new journey to showcase the diverse skills that military veterans possess.
As always, thank you for your continued commitment to our nation’s veterans and their families.
With Admiration,
Brian Stann
