Women in Non-Traditional Employment Roles
Founded in 1996, Women In Non-Traditional Employment Roles (WINTER) is a not-for-profit organization based in the Greater Los Angeles/Orange Counties. Their mission is to promote gender equity in the construction industry by providing apprenticeship readiness training to low-income women. They are certified by the CA Department of Industrial Relations and National North America's Building Trades Unions and offer a comprehensive curriculum for women interested in construction trades. WINTER focuses on three goals: increasing the percentage of women in union construction, promoting non-traditional jobs for low-income women, and preparing them with essential skills through training, case management, mentorship, job placement, and retention services for up to five years.
